How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose is one 3 mg tablet in the evening at local bedtime after a flight across time zones, for up to 4 days. If the 3 mg dose is not enough, you can take one 5 mg tablet instead.

Method

You can crush the tablet and mix it with cold water before taking it. Do not eat food 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking Melatonin Orion.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one 5 mg tablet taken once per day for up to 4 days.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to melatonin or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have diabetes or impaired glucose tolerance, as this medicine may increase blood sugar levels.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have an autoimmune disease (where your immune system attacks itself) or epilepsy, as melatonin may increase seizure frequency.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are elderly.

  • Smoking can reduce the effect of Melatonin Orion because tobacco smoke components can increase the breakdown of melatonin in the liver.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Women who can become pregnant must use contraception during treatment.
  • This medicine is not for children or adolescents under 18 years old.
  • Avoid alcohol before, during, or after taking Melatonin Orion, as it can reduce its effect.
  • Melatonin Orion can cause drowsiness and reduce alertness for several hours after taking it. Do not drive or operate machinery after taking this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medicines, including blood thinners, antidepressants, antibiotics, epilepsy medicines, pain relievers, sleeping pills, or hormones.
