How to Use

Dosage

One 3 mg tablet once a day.

Method

Take the tablet at bedtime in your destination time zone. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water or other liquid. Do not take tablets before 8 PM or after 4 AM. Avoid eating two hours before and two hours after taking the tablet.

Important

One 3 mg tablet per day for a maximum of five days.

  • High levels of certain fat molecules (triglycerides) in the blood

  • Memory impairment, restless legs syndrome, tingling and numbness
  • Watery eyes
  • Hot flashes
  • Vomiting, flatulence, increased saliva production, bad breath, stomach lining inflammation
  • Nail changes
  • Joint pain, muscle cramps
  • Increased urination
  • Prolonged erection, which may be painful, prostate inflammation
  • Thirst
  • Abnormal blood electrolyte levels
  • Decreased white blood cell count, which may increase infection risk
  • Increased tendency to bleed or bruise (which may be due to a decrease in platelets)
  • Disorientation (confusion about time and place)
  • Fainting
  • Impaired vision, including blurred vision
  • Heart palpitations ('pounding heart')
  • Blood (red blood cells) in urine
  • Hypersensitivity reactions
  • High blood sugar levels
  • Breast milk secretion (also in men)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to melatonin or any other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have epilepsy, as melatonin may increase seizures.
  • Tell your doctor if you have an autoimmune disease.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes or high blood sugar, as this medicine may increase blood sugar levels.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems.

  • Smoking can reduce the effectiveness of this medicine.
  • This medicine can make you sleepy. Do not drive or operate machinery after taking it.
  • Not for use in children and adolescents under 18 years for jet lag.
  • Stop taking the medicine and contact a doctor immediately if you experience a severe allergic reaction, such as swelling of the tongue or mouth.
  • Not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist about any other medicines you are taking, as this medicine may affect them or be affected by them.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Has fewer adverse effects than benzodiazepines andrelated drugs. Non-pharmacological methods are the first-line treatment for insomnia. (updated 18.3.2024)
