How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your dose. Typically, the starting dose is 4-48 mg per day, but it can vary based on your condition.

Method

Take the tablets exactly as your doctor tells you. For alternate-day therapy, take your usual daily dose doubled every other morning.

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose. Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Infections due to weakened immune system
  • Allergic reactions, including severe ones
  • Weight gain, rounded face, fat deposits around the neck, muscle weakness, fragile skin (Cushing's syndrome-like symptoms)
  • Mood changes (e.g., depression, mood swings), anxiety, confusion, trouble sleeping
  • Stomach ulcers, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea
  • Thin or fragile skin, bruises, rash, itching, acne
  • Muscle weakness, muscle pain, bone loss (osteoporosis), joint pain
  • Blurred vision, cataracts, glaucoma

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Medrol if you are allergic to methylprednisolone or have a fungal infection.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, thyroid problems, severe mood changes, seizures, heart issues, high blood pressure, stomach ulcers, kidney problems, or osteoporosis.
  • Medrol can weaken your immune system and make infections worse or harder to detect. Tell your doctor if you have an infection.
  • Medrol can cause serious mental health side effects like depression or suicidal thoughts. Contact your doctor if this happens.
  • Long-term use can cause eye problems, including blurred vision. See your doctor if you have vision changes.

  • If you need a vaccination, tell your doctor that you are taking Medrol.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a pregnancy, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness, blurred vision, or tiredness. Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience these effects.
  • Do not stop taking Medrol suddenly, especially after long-term use. Your dose should be reduced gradually under medical supervision.
