Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to levothyroxine or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have untreated adrenal gland or pituitary gland problems, or untreated overactive thyroid (thyrotoxicosis).
  • Do not take if you have an acute heart condition, such as a heart attack or inflammation of the heart.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking Medithyrox if you have heart problems like angina, heart failure, fast or irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, or hardened arteries. These conditions must be managed by a doctor first.
  • Do not use thyroid hormones for weight loss. Taking high doses without a doctor's advice can cause serious, life-threatening side effects, especially if taken with certain weight-loss medicines.
Show 3 more warnings
  • Tell your doctor or lab staff if you are taking or have recently taken biotin (Vitamin H, B7, or B8), as it can affect thyroid hormone test results.
  • If you are pregnant, continue taking Medithyrox, but talk to your doctor as your dose may need to be adjusted. If you are taking it with medicines that block thyroid hormone production to treat an overactive thyroid, your doctor will likely stop Medithyrox when you become pregnant.
  • If you consume soy products, especially if you change the amount you eat, tell your doctor. Soy products can reduce how much Medithyrox your body absorbs, so your dose may need to be adjusted.
