Medithyrox is a medicine containing a thyroid hormone called levothyroxine, which helps your body work normally when your own thyroid doesn't produce enough of it.
Your doctor will tell you how much to take. You usually start with a small dose, which is slowly increased every 2-4 weeks until it's right for you.
Take one tablet by mouth once a day in the morning, at least 30 minutes before breakfast, with half a glass of water.
The maximum daily dose is set by your doctor and can vary, typically up to 300 micrograms for specific uses, as taking too much can cause side effects.
Suitable for older adults. Calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium and aluminium reduce absorption. (updated 6.11.2023)
