Medithyrox is a medicine that replaces the thyroid hormone your body needs to function properly.
Your doctor will decide your exact dose based on tests, but adults typically take 100–200 micrograms daily.
Take one dose by mouth every morning on an empty stomach, at least half an hour before breakfast, with a small amount of liquid. For small children, crush the tablet and mix with a small amount of water just before giving it.
The maximum daily dose varies depending on the condition being treated, but is generally up to 300 micrograms.
Suitable for older adults. Calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium and aluminium reduce absorption. (updated 6.11.2023)
