How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine your individual dose based on tests, usually starting with a low dose and gradually increasing it over 2-4 weeks until the target dose is reached.

Method

Take Medithyrox by mouth once daily in the morning on an empty stomach (at least 30 minutes before breakfast), preferably with a small amount of liquid (e.g., half a glass of water).

Important

The maximum daily dose for preventing tumor growth in thyroid cancer patients is typically 150-300 micrograms.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Medithyrox if you are allergic to levothyroxine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have an untreated disorder of the adrenal or pituitary gland, or untreated overproduction of thyroid hormones (thyrotoxicosis).
  • Do not take if you have an acute heart condition, such as a heart attack or inflammation of the heart.
  • Do not use Medithyrox with anti-thyroid medicines if you are pregnant.
  • Do not use thyroid hormones for weight loss. It will not reduce weight if your thyroid hormone levels are normal, and can cause serious side effects if the dose is too high.
