How to Use

Dosage

Take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.

Method

You can take the tablet with liquid, either on an empty stomach or with food.

Important

Do not use for more than 4 weeks, including the period when you gradually stop taking it.

  • Yellow skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • Skin reactions
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Drug dependence or misuse
  • Speech problems
  • Shaking or tremor
  • Feeling restless, agitated, aggressive, or seeing/hearing things that aren't there (paradoxical reactions)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Medipam if you are allergic to diazepam, other similar medicines (benzodiazepines), or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take Medipam if you have a muscle weakness disease called myasthenia gravis, severe breathing problems, sleep apnea (where your breathing stops while you sleep), or if you are dependent on alcohol or other medicines.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking Medipam if you have glaucoma (high pressure in your eye), have misused alcohol or drugs, are elderly, have chronic lung disease, or kidney/liver disease.
  • Do not drink alcohol while taking Medipam, as it can make the effects of the medicine and alcohol stronger and increase the risk of dependence.
  • Do not use Medipam if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you become pregnant or plan to get pregnant, contact your doctor immediately.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Sedative. A long-acting. Increases the risk of drug addiction, cognitive disorder and traffic accidents. Increases risk of falls. Paradoxically, may increase anxiety, restlessness and aggression. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 15.1.2024)
