How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you exactly how much to take.

Method

Take the tablet with liquid, either on an empty stomach or with food.

Important

Your doctor will set the maximum daily dose; treatment usually lasts no longer than 4 weeks.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Sleepiness (especially during the day)
  • Confusion
  • Memory problems (e.g., memory loss or reduced attention)

  • Mild coordination problems
RARE
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Double vision
  • Depression
  • Changes in sex drive
  • Low blood pressure
  • Constipation
  • Nausea
  • Changes in saliva production
  • Jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes)
  • Skin reactions (e.g., rash)
  • Urinary retention (difficulty urinating)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to diazepam, other similar medicines, or any other ingredients in Medipam.
  • Do not use if you have myasthenia gravis (a muscle weakness disease).
  • Do not use if you have severe breathing problems or sleep apnea.
  • Do not use if you are dependent on alcohol or drugs.
  • Do not drink alcohol during treatment, as it can increase the medicine's effects and the risk of dependence.

  • Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding without your doctor's permission. If you become pregnant, contact your doctor immediately.
  • This medicine may affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. Be careful.
  • Do not stop this medicine suddenly. The dose must be gradually reduced as instructed by your doctor.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking Medipam if you have glaucoma, a history of alcohol or drug misuse, are elderly, have chronic breathing problems, or have kidney or liver disease.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Sedative. A long-acting. Increases the risk of drug addiction, cognitive disorder and traffic accidents. Increases risk of falls. Paradoxically, may increase anxiety, restlessness and aggression. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 15.1.2024)
