This medicine is given as a slow injection by a doctor into the tissue near the surgical area, close to nerves, or in the lower spine.

Important

Your doctor will determine the maximum safe dose for you; severe overdose is rare but requires expert care.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low blood pressure, nausea, unusual feelings like tingling, confusion, slow heart rate, high blood pressure, vomiting, difficulty urinating.
RARE
  • Seizures, numbness around lips and mouth, numb tongue, vision and hearing problems, loss of consciousness, dizziness, ringing in ears (tinnitus), speech problems, allergic reactions (including severe allergic shock), central nervous system problems, nerve damage, spinal cord inflammation, double vision, cardiac arrest, irregular heartbeat, breathing difficulties, changes in liver enzyme levels (showing liver damage) after long-term use.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to bupivacaine, adrenaline, sodium metabisulfite, or similar numbing medicines.
  • This medicine containing adrenaline should not be used for numbing body parts with end arteries (e.g., penis, finger/toe blocks), as it can cut off blood flow.
  • Tell your doctor about all your health conditions, especially heart, liver, or kidney problems, and any medicines you are taking.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, planning a pregnancy, or think you might be pregnant, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine.
  • Do not drive or use machines until the day after your procedure, as this medicine can temporarily affect your reactions and muscle coordination.
