How to Use

Dosage

One 10 mg tablet once daily.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not chew or break it. You can take it with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one 10 mg tablet.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Anemia (low red blood cell count) or decreased hemoglobin levels
  • Headache
  • Bronchitis (inflammation of the airways)
  • Nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the nose and throat)
  • Edema (swelling), especially in ankles and feet
  • Pharyngitis (sore throat)
  • Flu
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Low blood pressure
  • Nasal congestion
  • Increased liver enzyme values
  • Leukopenia (decreased white blood cell count)
  • Thrombocytopenia (decreased platelet count)
  • Flushing (skin redness)
  • Increased uterine bleeding
RARE
  • Allergic reactions (swelling around the eyes, face, lips, tongue or throat, itching and/or rash)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to macitentan, peanuts, soy, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or could become pregnant and are not using reliable birth control.
  • Do not take if you are breastfeeding.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease or very high liver enzyme levels in your blood. Talk to your doctor to see if this medicine is right for you.
  • Your doctor will do blood tests before and during treatment to check for anemia (low red blood cell count) and to check your liver function.

  • If you have kidney problems, talk to your doctor before starting Macitentan Glenmark, as it can lower blood pressure and hemoglobin levels further.
  • If you have a blocked lung vein condition (PVOD), medicines like Macitentan Glenmark can cause fluid in your lungs (pulmonary edema). If you get sudden, severe shortness of breath or low oxygen, tell your doctor right away.
  • This medicine is not for children under 2 years old, as its effects and safety have not been confirmed for this age group.
