Macitentan Devatis is a medicine used to treat high blood pressure in the arteries of your lungs (Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, PAH) by widening them and making it easier for your heart to pump blood.

How to Use

Dosage

Take one 10 mg tablet once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew or break it. You can take it with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day.

Important

Do not take more than one 10 mg tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low red blood cells (anemia)
  • Headache
  • Bronchitis (inflammation of the airways)
  • Nose and throat infection (nasopharyngitis)
  • Swelling, especially in ankles and feet (edema)
  • Sore throat (pharyngitis)
  • Flu-like illness
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Low blood pressure
  • Stuffy nose
  • Increased liver enzyme levels
  • Low white blood cells
  • Low platelets
  • Flushing (skin redness)
  • Increased uterine bleeding
RARE
  • Allergic reactions (swelling around eyes, face, lips, tongue or throat, itching, and/or rash). Seek medical help immediately if you notice these.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to macitentan or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or could get pregnant and are not using effective birth control. Do not breastfeed while taking this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver disease or very high liver enzyme levels. Watch for symptoms like nausea, vomiting, yellow skin/eyes, or dark urine and tell your doctor right away.
  • Your doctor will check for low red blood cells (anemia). Tell your doctor if you feel dizzy, very tired, or have a fast heartbeat.
  • If you have kidney problems, talk to your doctor.

  • If you have a lung condition called PVOD (Pulmonary Veno-Occlusive Disease), this medicine can cause swelling in your lungs. If you suddenly have worse shortness of breath or less oxygen, tell your doctor right away.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all other medicines, vitamins, or herbal supplements you are taking, as they may interact with Macitentan Devatis.
  • This medicine can cause side effects like headaches and low blood pressure, which might affect your ability to drive or use machines. Be careful until you know how you react.
  • If you have a sugar intolerance (like lactose), talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
