How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine the right dose for you, usually between 150 mg and 600 mg per day.

Method

Take the capsules whole with water. Your doctor will tell you if you should take Lyribastad two or three times a day, at about the same times each day (morning and evening for twice daily; morning, afternoon, and evening for thrice daily).

Important

The typical maximum daily dose is 600 mg.

  • Allergic reactions that may include difficulty breathing, eye inflammation, and severe skin reactions characterized by reddish, flat, target-like or ring-shaped spots with blisters in the center; skin peeling, sores in the mouth, throat, nose, genitals, and eyes. These severe rashes may be preceded by fever and flu-like symptoms (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis).
  • Yellowing of skin and eyes (jaundice)
  • Parkinsonism (symptoms resembling Parkinson's disease), such as tremor, slow movement (reduced mobility), and stiffness (muscle stiffness).
  • Liver failure
  • Hepatitis (liver inflammation)
  • Development of dependence on Lyribastad (drug dependence)
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Shallow breathing

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to pregabalin or any other ingredients in Lyribastad.
  • If you experience severe allergic reactions like swelling of the face, lips, tongue, throat, or widespread skin rash, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Stop taking Lyribastad and see a doctor right away if you notice severe skin reactions like red, flat, target-like spots or blisters on your body, especially if they are accompanied by fever or flu-like symptoms.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness and drowsiness, which may increase the risk of falls, especially in older people. Be careful until you know how it affects you.
  • Lyribastad may cause blurred vision, vision loss, or other changes in vision. Tell your doctor right away if your vision changes.

  • If you have diabetes and gain weight while taking Lyribastad, your diabetes medication may need to be adjusted.
  • Tell your doctor before taking this medicine if you have any heart problems, as Lyribastad has been linked to heart failure in some patients.
  • If you notice a decrease in urination while taking Lyribastad, tell your doctor, as kidney problems have been reported.
  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, contact your doctor immediately, as these have been reported in patients taking Lyribastad.
  • If you get constipated, especially if you tend to get constipated easily, tell your doctor, as taking Lyribastad with certain other medicines can worsen stomach problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a history of alcohol, prescription drug, or illegal drug abuse, as you may have a higher risk of becoming dependent on Lyribastad.
  • If you experience seizures during or soon after stopping Lyribastad, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a serious medical condition like liver or kidney disease, as cases of reduced brain function have been reported in some patients taking Lyribastad with other health problems.
  • If you have breathing difficulties or shallow breathing, contact your doctor. This is especially important if you have nerve problems, breathing problems, kidney failure, or are over 65 years old.
  • Do not stop taking Lyribastad suddenly. Talk to your doctor first, who will tell you how to gradually reduce the dose over at least one week to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
  • This medicine may cause dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you.
  • Do not drink alcohol while taking Lyribastad.
  • Lyribastad should only be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding if your doctor specifically advises it, as it may cause birth defects.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. Note especially central nervous system adverse effects. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Addiction may develop. (updated 14.4.2025)
