How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your dose, usually between 150 mg and 600 mg per day.

Method

Take this medicine exactly as your doctor tells you. Swallow the capsule whole with water. You will usually take Lyribastad two or three times a day. If twice a day, take one dose in the morning and one in the evening around the same time. If three times a day, take one dose in the morning, one in the afternoon, and one in the evening around the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 600 mg.

  • Mood changes (like feeling high or depressed), confusion, difficulty focusing, memory problems, strange dreams, irritability, no interest in things
  • Shaking, clumsy movements, trouble speaking, tingling, numbness, low energy, sleepiness, trouble sleeping, tiredness, feeling unusual, restlessness
  • Blurred vision, double vision, eye swelling, eye pain, or other vision problems (e.g., tunnel vision, light flashes, unusual eye movements)
  • Dizziness when standing up, balance problems, or falls
  • Dry mouth, constipation, vomiting, gas, diarrhea, nausea, or a bloated stomach
  • Erection problems or changes in sex drive (e.g., trouble having an orgasm, delayed ejaculation)
  • Swelling in the body, including arms and legs
  • Feeling drunk, unusual walking, or weight gain
  • Muscle cramps, joint pain, back pain, limb pain, muscle stiffness, or neck pain
  • Sore throat, cough, runny nose, nosebleeds, or snoring
  • Heart problems (e.g., fast heartbeat, low or high blood pressure, heart failure, abnormal EKG)
  • Flushing, hot flashes, sweating, chills, or fever
  • Breathing difficulties, dry nose, stuffy nose, or shallow breathing
  • Increased saliva, heartburn, or numbness around the mouth
  • Trouble or pain urinating, incontinence, or inability to urinate
  • Weakness, thirst, tight feeling in the chest
  • Allergic reactions such as itchy skin, hives, or swelling of the face or other body parts
  • Painful periods or missed periods
  • Cold hands and feet
  • Problems with liver (e.g., liver inflammation, liver failure) or kidneys (e.g., kidney failure)
  • Low white blood cell count
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
  • Trouble swallowing
  • Fluid in the abdomen or lungs
  • Jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes)
  • Symptoms similar to Parkinson's disease (shaking, slow movement, stiffness)
  • Developing dependence on Lyribastad (drug addiction)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to pregabalin or any ingredients. If you get swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or a widespread rash, seek medical help immediately.
  • Stop taking Lyribastad and see a doctor right away if you get severe skin reactions like red, blistering, or peeling skin (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome).
  • This medicine can make you dizzy or sleepy, which might increase the risk of falls, especially for older people. Be careful until you know how it affects you.
  • Lyribastad can cause blurred vision, vision loss, or other vision changes. Tell your doctor right away if your eyesight changes.
  • Some people with diabetes might need changes to their diabetes medicine if they gain weight while taking Lyribastad.

  • If you take other medicines for pain or muscle spasms (like opioids), some side effects such as drowsiness might get worse. Tell your doctor about all medicines you take.
  • Some people, especially older patients with heart disease, have reported heart failure while taking Lyribastad. Tell your doctor if you have any heart problems before starting this medicine.
  • Some patients have reported kidney problems while taking Lyribastad. If you notice you are urinating less often while on this medicine, tell your doctor.
  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, contact your doctor right away. This has been reported in some patients taking Lyribastad or similar medicines.
  • If you take other medicines that cause constipation (like some pain medicines), you might have stomach problems such as constipation. Tell your doctor if you have constipation, especially if you are prone to it.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever abused alcohol, prescription medicines, or illegal drugs, as you may be at a higher risk of becoming dependent on Lyribastad.
  • Seizures have occurred during or shortly after stopping Lyribastad. If you have seizures, contact your doctor right away.
  • Some patients taking Lyribastad have reported problems with brain function (encephalopathy), especially if they had other serious medical conditions. Tell your doctor if you have a serious illness like liver or kidney disease.
  • Breathing problems, including shallow breathing, have been reported. If you have nerve problems, breathing problems, kidney problems, or are over 65, your doctor might adjust your dose. Contact your doctor if you have trouble breathing or shallow breaths.
  • Do not stop taking Lyribastad suddenly. Stopping quickly can cause withdrawal symptoms like trouble sleeping, headache, nausea, anxiety, diarrhea, flu-like symptoms, seizures, nervousness, depression, suicidal thoughts, pain, sweating, and dizziness. These effects may be more common or severe after long-term use. If you have withdrawal symptoms, contact your doctor.
  • Lyribastad contains lactose. If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
  • Taking Lyribastad during the first three months of pregnancy may cause birth defects. Use reliable birth control if you can become pregnant. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness, drowsiness, and make it hard to focus. Do not drive, operate complex machinery, or do other risky activities until you know how this medicine affects your ability to perform these tasks safely.
  • Do not drink alcohol while taking Lyribastad as it can make side effects worse.
  • Lyribastad is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years old.
