How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your dose, usually between 150 mg and 600 mg per day.

Method

Take Lyribastad capsules by mouth, whole with water. You will take it either two or three times a day at around the same times each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 600 mg.

  • Allergic reactions (including difficulty breathing, eye inflammation, severe skin reactions with red, flat, ring-shaped patches, blistering, peeling skin, sores in mouth, throat, nose, genitals, and eyes; may be preceded by fever and flu-like symptoms, e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis)
  • Jaundice (yellow skin and eyes)
  • Parkinsonism (symptoms like Parkinson's disease, e.g., tremor, slow movement, stiffness)
  • Liver failure
  • Hepatitis (liver inflammation)
  • Developing dependence on Lyribastad (drug dependence)
  • Breathing difficulties, shallow breathing

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to pregabalin or any other ingredients.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you have signs of an allergic reaction, such as swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, or a widespread rash.
  • Stop taking the medicine and see a doctor right away if you develop severe skin reactions like red patches, blisters, or skin peeling (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis).
  • This medicine can cause dizziness and sleepiness, which might increase your risk of falls, especially if you are elderly. Be careful until you know how it affects you.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any changes in your vision, such as blurred vision or vision loss, as these are often temporary.

  • If you have diabetes and gain weight while taking Lyribastad, your diabetes medication might need to be adjusted.
  • If you have a spinal cord injury and take other medicines for pain or stiffness, the side effects of Lyribastad, like sleepiness, might become stronger.
  • Tell your doctor before taking this medicine if you have any heart problems, as heart failure has been reported in some patients, mostly elderly patients with heart or blood vessel diseases.
  • Inform your doctor if you notice less urination while on Lyribastad, as kidney problems have been reported.
  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Tell your doctor if you have constipation, especially if you tend to get it, as Lyribastad with certain pain medicines can cause digestive problems.
  • If you have a history of alcohol, prescription medicine, or drug abuse, tell your doctor before taking Lyribastad, as you might be more likely to become dependent on it.
  • If you experience seizures, contact your doctor immediately, as they have been reported during or shortly after stopping pregabalin.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a serious medical condition, including liver or kidney disease, as brain function impairment (encephalopathy) has been reported in some patients with other underlying illnesses.
  • If you have breathing problems or shallow breathing, contact your doctor. They may adjust your dose if you have nerve system disorders, breathing problems, kidney issues, or are over 65.
  • You can become dependent on Lyribastad. If you are worried, talk to your doctor. Do not stop taking it suddenly, as this can cause withdrawal symptoms.
  • Lyribastad is not for children and adolescents under 18 years old, as its safety and effectiveness have not been confirmed in this age group.
  • Do not drive, use complex machinery, or do other risky activities until you know how this medicine affects your ability to perform these tasks, as it can cause dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating.
  • Lyribastad should only be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding if your doctor specifically tells you to, as it can cause birth defects in the baby.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. Note especially central nervous system adverse effects. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Addiction may develop. (updated 14.4.2025)
