How to Use

Dosage

Take one capsule once a day.

Method

Take it in the morning with a glass of water, while sitting or standing. Have a light meal without dairy products.

Important

Do not take more than one capsule per day. Your doctor might continue treatment for up to six months.

  • Yellow skin or eyes (jaundice)

  • Skin becoming more sensitive to sunlight
  • Changes in your blood cells (counts or types)
  • Pain in the upper stomach area
  • Changes in some blood test results (e.g., liver function tests)
  • Fever
  • Itching, rash, or hives
  • Inflammation in your gut
  • Feeling depressed
  • Nightmares
  • Soreness or ulcers in your food pipe, causing pain, difficulty swallowing, or heartburn
  • Inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis)
  • Liver damage
  • A condition called systemic lupus erythematosus (a skin rash)
  • Tooth discoloration (in adults)
  • Increased urea in your blood (may be worse if you also take water pills)
  • Pain or itching around your genitals or anus
  • Yeast infection around your anus or genitals

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to lymecycline, other similar antibiotics (tetracyclines), or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have kidney disease.
  • Do not take if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or breastfeeding, as it can harm your baby's developing teeth.
  • Do not take if you are already taking certain other medicines for acne called retinoids.
  • This medicine is not for children under 8 years old. It's not recommended for children under 12 years old because it can permanently stain their teeth and affect bone growth.

  • Avoid strong sunlight and sunbeds. If your skin becomes uncomfortable, stop taking the medicine and talk to your doctor.
  • If you get severe, long-lasting, or bloody diarrhea, contact your doctor right away. This can be a sign of a serious bowel problem.
  • Stop taking this medicine and get immediate medical help if you have a severe allergic reaction. Signs include swelling of your face, tongue, or throat, trouble breathing or swallowing, fever, or rash.
  • Stop taking this medicine and get immediate medical help if you develop a severe skin condition. Signs include severe peeling or swelling of the skin, blisters on your skin or in your mouth, or fever.
  • Stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor if you have vision problems or headaches. These could be signs of increased pressure in your brain.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Increase the dosing interval in renal impairment. Calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium and aluminium reduce absorption. Protect yourself from excessive exposure to sunlight because of the risk of burning the skin. (updated 6.11.2023)
