How to Use

Dosage

Oral dose is usually 200-300 mg daily. Vaginal dose is usually 300-600 mg daily.

Method

Oral capsules should be swallowed whole with water, away from meals, usually at bedtime or split into morning and evening doses. Vaginal capsules are inserted deep into the vagina by hand.

Important

For oral use, a single dose should not be more than 200 mg. The maximum daily vaginal dose is 600 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Temporary tiredness or dizziness (1-3 hours after dose)
  • Spotting or light bleeding between periods
RARE
  • Abdominal pain
  • Fluid retention (swelling)
  • Breast tenderness or soreness
  • Decreased sex drive (libido)
  • Headache
  • Indigestion or upset stomach
  • Abdominal bloating
  • Blood clots (thromboembolism)
  • Vaginal irritation or bleeding

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Lugesteron if you are allergic to progesterone, peanuts, or soy.
  • Do not use if you have or have had severe liver disease, yellowing of skin/eyes due to bile problems, unexplained vaginal bleeding, or blood clots in veins or arteries.
  • Talk to your doctor before using Lugesteron, especially if you experience dizziness.
