How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you your exact dose. For most adults with high blood pressure, it's usually 50 mg once a day.

Method

Take the tablet whole with a glass of water, usually at the same time each day. You can take it with or without food.

Important

Your doctor will tell you the maximum dose you can take. It is usually not more than 100 mg per day for high blood pressure, but can be higher for certain conditions like heart failure.

  • Low sodium in blood (hyponatremia)

  • Urinary tract infection

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Losatrix if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, especially after the first three months, as it can harm your baby.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had swelling of your face, lips, throat, or tongue (angioedema) before.
  • Inform your doctor if you have severe vomiting or diarrhea, or if you take water pills (diuretics) or follow a low-salt diet.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, a kidney transplant, or liver problems.
  • Do not use Losatrix if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking aliskiren.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A
