How to Use

Dosage

For most people with high blood pressure, the usual dose is one Losartan/Hydrochlorothiazide Stada 50 mg/12.5 mg tablet once a day. Your doctor may increase this if needed.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. You can take it with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than two Losartan/Hydrochlorothiazide Stada 50 mg/12.5 mg tablets or one Losartan/Hydrochlorothiazide Stada 100 mg/25 mg tablet in one day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Cough, runny or stuffy nose, sinus infection
  • Diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, indigestion
  • Muscle aches or cramps, leg pain, back pain
  • Trouble sleeping, headache, dizziness
  • Weakness, tiredness, chest pain
  • Increased potassium in blood (can cause irregular heartbeats), decreased hemoglobin
  • Changes in kidney function, including kidney failure
  • Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
RARE
  • Severe allergic reaction with rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, mouth, or throat, causing difficulty breathing or swallowing (seek urgent medical help)
  • Acute breathing difficulty with severe shortness of breath, fever, weakness, and confusion (very rare, seek immediate medical help)
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis), abnormal liver function tests
  • Swelling of the intestines (angioedema), causing stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Unexplained muscle pain with dark (tea-colored) urine
  • Low sodium levels in the blood
  • General feeling of being unwell
  • Taste changes
  • Skin and lip cancer (non-melanoma type)
  • Blurred vision or eye pain due to high pressure in the eye (fluid buildup)

Important Warnings

  • Seek urgent medical help if you get blurred vision or eye pain, especially if you've had a penicillin or sulfa allergy before, as it could lead to permanent vision loss.
  • Tell your doctor if you have stomach pain, feel sick, throw up, or have diarrhea after taking this medicine. Do not stop taking it without talking to your doctor.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or breastfeeding. It can harm your baby.
  • If you have had breathing problems or lung issues (like swelling or fluid) after taking hydrochlorothiazide before, or if you get very short of breath after taking this medicine, get medical help right away.
  • Tell your doctor if your face, lips, throat, or tongue have ever swelled up.

  • Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine, as it can make its effects stronger.
  • Avoid eating too much salt, as it can make this medicine less effective.
  • Do not drink grapefruit juice when taking this medicine.
  • Protect your skin from the sun and UV light. This medicine can increase your risk of certain skin and lip cancers, especially if you have had skin cancer before.
