How to Use

Dosage

Usually, take one Losartan/Hydrochlorothiazide Stada 50 mg/12.5 mg tablet once daily.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water.

Important

The maximum daily dose is two Losartan/Hydrochlorothiazide Stada 50 mg/12.5 mg tablets per day or one Losartan/Hydrochlorothiazide Stada 100 mg/25 mg tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Cough, upper respiratory infection, stuffy nose, sinus infection, sinus disorder
  • Diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, indigestion
  • Muscle pain or cramps, leg pain, back pain
  • Insomnia, headache, dizziness
  • Weakness, fatigue, chest pain
  • Increased potassium levels, decreased hemoglobin levels, changes in kidney function, too low blood sugar levels
RARE
  • Severe allergic reaction (rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, mouth, or throat, leading to difficulty breathing or swallowing)
  • Acute respiratory distress syndrome (signs include severe shortness of breath, fever, weakness, and confusion)
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis), abnormal liver function tests
  • Intestinal angioedema (swelling in the intestines with symptoms like abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea)
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Unexplained muscle pain with dark (tea-colored) urine (rhabdomyolysis)
  • Low sodium levels in the blood (hyponatremia)
  • General feeling of unwellness (malaise)
  • Taste disturbance (dysgeusia)
  • Non-melanoma skin cancer of the skin and lips
  • Impaired vision or eye pain due to high eye pressure (possible signs of fluid accumulation in the eye or acute angle-closure glaucoma)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to losartan, hydrochlorothiazide, or similar medicines.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver or kidney problems, or if your kidneys do not produce urine.
  • Do not use during the last 6 months of pregnancy and avoid during early pregnancy.
  • Do not take if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking a medicine containing aliskiren.
  • Protect your skin from sun and UV light exposure if you have had skin cancer or develop new skin changes, as hydrochlorothiazide may increase the risk of skin cancer.

  • Seek medical attention if you experience sudden vision changes or eye pain.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had an allergy to penicillin or sulfonamides, as this may increase the risk of eye problems.
  • Avoid alcohol and grapefruit juice during treatment, and avoid excessive salt intake in your diet.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
