How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 50 mg once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water, with or without food. Try to take your tablet at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum dose is usually 100 mg once a day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness
  • Low blood pressure, especially when standing up quickly
  • Feeling weak or tired
  • Low blood sugar
  • High blood potassium
  • Changes in kidney function, including kidney failure
  • Anemia (low red blood cells)
RARE
  • Headache or trouble sleeping
  • Feeling your heart beat fast (palpitations) or chest pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting
  • Skin rash, itching, hives, or local swelling
  • Cough
  • Severe allergic reactions with swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
  • Inflammation of blood vessels
  • Numbness or tingling sensation
  • Fainting
  • Very fast or irregular heartbeat
  • Stroke
  • Liver problems, such as inflammation or increased liver enzymes
  • Low platelet count
  • Migraine
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Back pain and urinary tract infection
  • Increased sensitivity to sunlight
  • Unexplained muscle pain with dark urine
  • Impotence
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
  • Low sodium in blood
  • Depression
  • General feeling of unwellness
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Taste disturbance

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to losartan or any other ingredients in it.
  • Do not use Losartan Stada if you are pregnant (especially after 3 months) or breastfeeding, as it can harm your baby.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver problems.
  • Do not use this medicine if you have diabetes or kidney disease and are also taking a blood pressure medicine that contains aliskiren.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever had swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat (angioedema).

  • Tell your doctor if you have severe vomiting or diarrhea, as this can lead to dehydration.
  • Tell your doctor if you have narrowed or blocked arteries to your kidneys, or if you have recently had a kidney transplant.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart failure, severe irregular heartbeats, or problems with your heart valves or heart muscle.
  • Inform your doctor about other medicines you are taking, especially those that might increase potassium levels in your blood.
  • This medicine may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
