How to Use

Dosage

Usually, treatment starts with one 50 mg tablet once a day.

Method

Take the tablet by mouth with water. Try to take it at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 150 mg, as directed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness
  • Low blood pressure, especially when standing up quickly
  • Feeling weak or tired
  • Low blood sugar
  • High potassium levels in the blood
  • Changes in kidney function, including kidney failure
  • Reduced number of red blood cells (anemia)
RARE
  • Drowsiness, headache, or trouble sleeping
  • Fast heartbeat, chest pain, or shortness of breath
  • Stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting
  • Hives, itching, rash, or swelling (edema)
  • Cough
  • Severe allergic reaction with swelling of the face, lips, throat, or tongue (angioedema)
  • Tingling or numbness (paresthesia)
  • Fainting
  • Very fast and irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation)
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis)
  • Swelling in the intestines (intestinal angioedema) causing stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
  • Increased sensitivity to sunlight (photosensitivity)
  • Unexplained muscle pain with dark urine (rhabdomyolysis)
  • Ringing or buzzing in the ears (tinnitus)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to losartan or any of its ingredients.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver problems.
  • Do not take if you are more than 3 months pregnant or during early pregnancy, as it can harm your baby.
  • Do not take if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking another blood pressure medicine called aliskiren.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever had swelling of your face, lips, throat, or tongue (angioedema).

  • Tell your doctor if you have severe vomiting or diarrhea, which can lead to dehydration.
  • Avoid grapefruit juice while taking this medicine, as it can reduce the medicine's effect.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
