How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose for adults is 50 mg once a day. Your doctor may adjust the dose as needed for your condition.

Method

Take the tablet with a glass of water, usually at the same time each day, with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is typically 150 mg. For children (6-18 years, 20-50 kg), the maximum is 25 mg.

RARE
  • Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat, making it hard to swallow or breathe. Stop taking Losartan Krka and see a doctor immediately.

  • Swelling in the intestines (abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea)
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis)
  • Increased liver enzyme levels, usually reversible when treatment stops
  • Migraine
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Back pain and urinary tract infection
  • Increased sensitivity to sunlight (photosensitivity)
  • Unexplained muscle pain with dark (tea-colored) urine (rhabdomyolysis)
  • Impotence
  • Inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis)
  • Low blood sodium (hyponatremia)
  • Depression
  • General unwellness (malaise)
  • Ringing, buzzing, roaring, or clicking in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Altered taste sensation (dysgeusia)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Losartan Krka if you are allergic to losartan or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take Losartan Krka if you have severe liver problems.
  • Do not take Losartan Krka if you are more than 3 months pregnant. It is also best to avoid it in early pregnancy.
  • Do not take Losartan Krka if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking aliskiren (another blood pressure medicine).
  • Tell your doctor if you have had swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat (angioedema) in the past.

  • Tell your doctor if you have been very sick with vomiting or diarrhea, which can lead to a lack of salt and water in your body.
  • Tell your doctor if you have narrowing or blockage of the blood vessels leading to your kidneys, or if you recently had a kidney transplant.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart failure with kidney problems or severe, life-threatening heart rhythm issues.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other medicines that might increase potassium levels in your blood.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A
