Losartan Krka

Losartan Krka is a medicine that belongs to a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor blockers; it helps lower high blood pressure and slows down kidney damage in patients with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.

How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose for adults with high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes is 50 mg once a day. For heart failure, the starting dose is 12.5 mg once a day, gradually increased. For children (6-18 years, 20-50 kg), the starting dose is 0.7 mg/kg once a day (maximum 25 mg).

Method

Take the tablet with a glass of water, with or without food, and try to take it at the same time each day. Avoid grapefruit juice.

Important

The maximum daily dose is generally 100 mg for high blood pressure or 150 mg for heart failure.

  • Altered sense of taste

Important Warnings

  • Stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor immediately if you have a severe allergic reaction, such as rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, mouth, or throat, which makes it hard to swallow or breathe.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are more than 3 months pregnant, and avoid it during early pregnancy as well.
  • Do not use this medicine if you have severe liver problems.
  • Do not use if you have diabetes or kidney damage and are taking a blood pressure medicine that contains aliskiren.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had severe fluid loss due to vomiting, diarrhea, diuretic medicines, or a low-salt diet.

  • Tell your doctor if you have narrowing of the blood vessels to your kidneys or if you have recently had a kidney transplant.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other medicines that can increase potassium levels in your blood.
  • Talk to your doctor if you experience stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea after taking Losartan Krka.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
