How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to take based on your condition and other medicines you use.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not chew them. You can take them with or without food.

Important

Always follow your doctor's instructions for the maximum daily dose. Do not take more than prescribed.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Cough, infection of the upper airways, stuffy nose, sinus inflammation, sinus disorder.
  • Diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, upset stomach.
  • Muscle aches or cramps, leg pain, back pain.
  • Trouble sleeping, headache, dizziness.
  • Weakness, tiredness, chest pain.
  • Increased potassium levels (which can cause abnormal heart rhythms).
  • Decreased hemoglobin and hematocrit levels.
  • Changes in kidney function, including kidney failure.
  • Low blood sugar.
RARE
  • Anemia (low red blood cells), bruises, reduced white blood cells or platelets, bleeding problems.
  • Loss of appetite, increased uric acid or urea, gout, high blood sugar, electrolyte imbalance.
  • Anxiety, nervousness, panic attacks, confusion, depression, strange dreams, sleep problems, drowsiness, memory problems, tingling/numbness, limb pain, shaking, migraine, fainting.
  • Blurry vision, burning eyes, conjunctivitis, vision loss, yellow vision, ringing in ears, dizziness.
  • Low blood pressure (feeling dizzy or weak when standing up), chest pain, irregular heartbeat, mini-stroke, heart attack, palpitations, inflamed blood vessels with rash/bruises.
  • Sore throat, laryngitis, shortness of breath, bronchitis, pneumonia, fluid in lungs, nosebleeds, runny/stuffy nose.
  • Constipation, severe constipation, gas, stomach problems/cramps, vomiting, dry mouth, inflamed salivary glands, toothache, yellow skin/eyes (jaundice), pancreatitis.
  • Hives, itching, skin inflammation/rash, red skin, light sensitivity, dry skin, flushing, sweating, hair loss, severe skin reactions with blisters/peeling.
  • Arm/shoulder/hip/knee/joint pain, swollen/stiff joints, muscle weakness, arthritis, widespread chronic pain (fibromyalgia).
  • Frequent nighttime urination, kidney problems (including inflammation), urinary tract infection, sugar in urine, decreased sex drive, impotence.
  • Swelling in face or body, fever.
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis), abnormal liver function tests.
  • Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis).
  • Swelling in the intestines with stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
  • Muscle breakdown, flu-like symptoms, unexplained muscle pain with dark urine.
  • Low sodium levels in the blood.
  • General feeling of being unwell.
  • Changes in taste.
  • Non-melanoma skin and lip cancer.
  • Decreased vision or eye pain due to high eye pressure (possible signs of fluid buildup in the eye or acute narrow-angle glaucoma).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to losartan, hydrochlorothiazide, or similar medicines.
  • Do not take if you are more than 3 months pregnant, as it can harm your baby. Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to be.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver or kidney problems, or if your kidneys don't make urine.
  • Stop taking and see a doctor right away if you get swelling in your face, lips, tongue, or throat, or have trouble breathing. This is a rare but serious allergic reaction.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you develop sudden, severe shortness of breath or lung problems after taking this medicine.

  • If you have had skin cancer or notice new skin changes, tell your doctor. Protect your skin from sun and UV light while taking this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you experience decreased vision or eye pain. This could be a sign of a serious eye problem.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
