How to Use

Dosage

For adults, start with 2 tablets, then 1 tablet after each loose stool. For teenagers over 12, start with 1 tablet, then 1 tablet after each loose stool.

Method

Carefully remove the tablet from its packaging. Place the tablet on your tongue; it will dissolve quickly. You do not need water to swallow it, and do not chew it.

Important

Do not take more than 4 tablets in a day for teenagers over 12, and no more than 6 tablets in a day for adults.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling sick (nausea), constipation, or gas (bloating).
  • Headache.
RARE
  • Itchy skin or hives (red, raised rash).
  • Stomach pain or a swollen stomach.
  • Dizziness or feeling sleepy.
  • Vomiting or indigestion.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Allergic reactions (like sudden wheezing, trouble breathing, fainting, or swelling of face and throat).
  • Severe skin rash, possibly with blisters or peeling skin.
  • Feeling confused, very weak, fainting, or coordination problems.
  • Difficulty urinating.
  • Very severe constipation.
  • Burning or tingling sensation in the tongue.
  • Small pupils (the black part in the middle of your eye).
  • Tiredness.
  • Severe pain in the upper stomach, radiating to the back, with fever and fast pulse (possible signs of pancreatitis).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to loperamide or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have bloody stools and high fever.
  • Do not use if you have severe bowel inflammation, such as ulcerative colitis or an infection caused by bacteria.
  • Stop taking this medicine immediately if you get constipation or your stomach swells.
  • Do not give to children under 2 years of age.

  • If you have AIDS and your stomach swells, stop using the medicine and contact a doctor right away.
  • If diarrhea lasts more than 48 hours, stop using the medicine and contact a doctor.
  • If you have liver disease, ask your doctor before using this medicine.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. For treatment of diarrhoea for no more than two days. Do not use for the treatment of febrile diarrhoea. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 20.5.2024)
