How to Use

Dosage

The dose varies depending on what it's used for, typically 0.044–0.1 mg per kilogram of body weight, up to 4 mg per dose. Your doctor will decide the exact dose for you.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection into a vein (intravenously) or a muscle (intramuscularly) by a healthcare professional.

Important

Do not exceed the dose your doctor prescribes; in some cases, up to 8 mg per day may be given in two doses.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to lorazepam or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have certain severe medical conditions such as myasthenia gravis, severe breathing problems, sleep apnea, or severe liver disease.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery for 24-48 hours after receiving this medicine, as it can make you less alert and affect your coordination.
  • Avoid alcohol for 48 hours after receiving this medicine, as it can greatly increase the medicine's effects.
  • Long-term use can lead to dependence. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without your doctor's advice, as it can cause withdrawal symptoms.

  • You might experience temporary memory loss after taking this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, as this medicine may affect your baby.
  • Elderly and frail patients, as well as children, may react differently to this medicine. Your doctor will carefully adjust the dose for them.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. For short-term use only. Increases the risk of drug addiction, cognitive disorder and traffic accidents. Increases risk of falls. Paradoxically, may increase anxiety, restlessness and aggression. (updated 15.1.2024)
