How to Use

Dosage

For acute diarrhea (adults and children over 12), take 2 capsules at first, then 1 capsule after each loose stool. For IBS (adults 18+), start with 2 capsules, then 1 capsule after each loose stool. For children 6-12, take 1 capsule at first, then 1 capsule after each loose stool.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole.

Important

Do not take more than 8 capsules in 24 hours for adults and children over 12. For IBS-related diarrhea, do not exceed 6 capsules in 24 hours. For children aged 6-12, the maximum daily dose is 3 capsules per 20 kg body weight, but never more than 8 capsules per day.

  • Bowel obstruction (severe constipation)
  • Severe stomach pain with fever and vomiting, which can be signs of pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take more than the recommended dose, as this can cause serious heart problems with symptoms like a fast or irregular heartbeat.
  • Do not use Lopex if you are allergic to loperamide hydrochloride or any other ingredient in the medicine.
  • Do not give this medicine to children under 6 years old (or under 20 kg body weight).
  • Do not use if your stool is bloody or if you have a high fever with diarrhea.
  • Stop taking Lopex and see a doctor immediately if you develop severe constipation, stomach pain, vomiting, or if your diarrhea does not improve within 48 hours.

  • Drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration, especially important for children.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby, talk to your doctor before using Lopex.
  • This medicine may cause tiredness or dizziness, so be careful when driving or using machines.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. For treatment of diarrhoea for no more than two days. Do not use for the treatment of febrile diarrhoea. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 20.5.2024)
