How to Use

Dosage

You will breathe in the gas mixture through a mask, controlling the flow yourself with your breathing, always under medical supervision.

Method

Inhale normally through a face or nasal mask as instructed by your doctor or nurse. For children who cannot follow instructions, healthcare staff will give it with a continuous gas flow.

Important

There is no set maximum daily dose, as you control the gas intake yourself under medical supervision. Stop using if you feel too tired or detached and inform medical staff.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness
  • Feeling overly happy
  • Nausea and vomiting
RARE
  • Severe tiredness
  • Feeling of pressure in the middle ear (if used for a long time)
  • Bloating in the stomach
  • Numbness and weakness, usually in the legs
  • Anemia (low red blood cells) and leukopenia (low white blood cells)
  • Headache and confusion after stopping Livopan
  • Mental effects like psychosis, confusion, and anxiety (very rare)
  • Slowed or stopped breathing
  • Dependency on the medicine
  • Seizures

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you have gas trapped in your body, for example, in your lungs or blood, as Livopan can make it worse.
  • Do not use if you have severe heart problems or very weak heart function.
  • Do not use if you have increased pressure in your brain, such as from a tumor or bleeding.
  • Do not use if you have an untreated lack of vitamin B12 or folic acid.
  • Do not use if you have severe stomach problems that might mean a blocked bowel.

  • Do not use if you have face or jaw injuries that make wearing a mask difficult or risky.
  • Tell your doctor if you are confused or less awake, as Livopan can affect your natural protective reflexes.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ear infections or other ear problems, as Livopan can increase pressure in your middle ear.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe lung disease (COPD), as oxygen can make breathing worse.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a history of misusing drugs, as you might be at higher risk of becoming dependent on Livopan.
  • Long-term or repeated use of Livopan can cause a lack of vitamin B12, which might harm your bone marrow or nerves. Your doctor may do blood tests.
  • Tell your doctor if you take methotrexate (for conditions like arthritis), as Livopan can affect your blood cells.
  • Tell your doctor if you take bleomycin (for cancer) or amiodarone (for heart problems), as Livopan can make their side effects worse.
  • Tell your doctor if you take nitrofurantoin or similar antibiotics (for infections), as Livopan can make their side effects worse.
  • Tell your doctor if you use other medicines that affect your brain, such as tranquilizers or strong pain medicines, as Livopan can increase their effects.
  • After using Livopan, wait at least 30 minutes or until you feel fully recovered before driving, using machines, or doing complex tasks.
  • No smoking or open flames are allowed in areas where Livopan is being used.
