How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 10 mg once daily for high blood pressure or 2.5 mg once daily for heart failure; your doctor will determine the exact dose based on your condition.

Method

Swallow the tablet with at least half a glass of water, and try to take it at the same time each day, with or without food.

Important

The maximum dose is usually 20 mg per day for high blood pressure and up to 35 mg for heart failure, but your doctor will set the right maximum dose for you.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Dizziness or feeling light-headed, especially when standing up quickly
  • Diarrhea
  • Persistent dry cough
  • Vomiting
  • Minor kidney changes (shown in blood tests)
RARE
  • Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, and trouble breathing
  • Changes in mood, sleep, taste, or smell
  • Feeling tired, weak, or fainting
  • Heart or blood vessel issues like fast heartbeat, heart attack, stroke, or very low blood pressure
  • Stomach or bowel issues, such as nausea, pain, indigestion, or bowel inflammation
  • Skin problems like rash, itching, hives, hair loss, or severe skin reactions with redness and peeling
  • Breathing problems such as runny nose, wheezing, or lung inflammation
  • Low blood sugar
  • Liver or kidney problems, including inflammation, failure, yellow skin/eyes, dark urine, or changes in blood tests
  • Breast enlargement in men
  • Changes in blood cell counts, which can cause tiredness, pale skin, sore throat, fever, joint/muscle pain, swollen glands, low salt levels, or sun sensitivity
  • Infections with fever or general unwellness

Important Warnings

  • Stop taking this medicine and seek immediate medical help if you experience swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing, or trouble breathing, as these can be signs of a severe allergic reaction.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, as it can harm your baby.
  • Tell your doctor if you develop a persistent dry cough after starting this medicine.
  • Inform your doctor if you have heart, kidney, or liver disease, diabetes, or low blood pressure.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all other medicines you are taking, including over-the-counter ones, as they can affect how this medicine works.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
