How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose for adults and children 10 years and older is 10 mg once a day.

Method

Swallow Liporion tablets whole with water. You can take them at any time of day, with or without food, but try to take them at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 80 mg once a day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nose or throat irritation, sore throat, nosebleeds.
  • Allergic reactions.
  • High blood sugar (if diabetic, monitor carefully), increased muscle enzyme levels.
  • Headache.
  • Nausea, constipation, gas, upset stomach, diarrhea.
  • Joint pain, muscle pain, back pain.
  • Abnormal liver blood test results.
RARE
  • Severe allergic reaction (swelling of face, tongue, throat, difficulty breathing).
  • Severe skin reactions (peeling skin, blisters, fever, widespread rash).
  • Muscle problems like weakness, tenderness, pain, or dark urine. This could be a serious muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis) that can harm kidneys and be life-threatening.
  • Unexpected bleeding or bruising, yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice).
  • Vision problems, blurred vision, hearing loss.
  • Loss of appetite, weight gain, low blood sugar.
  • Nightmares, trouble sleeping, dizziness, numbness, tingling, memory loss, altered taste.
  • Vomiting, stomach pain, inflammation of the pancreas or liver.
  • Rash, itching, hives, hair loss, neck pain, muscle fatigue.
  • Fatigue, general weakness, chest pain, swelling (especially in ankles), fever.
  • Enlarged breasts in men (gynecomastia).
  • Persistent muscle weakness, myasthenia gravis (a condition causing general or eye muscle weakness).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to atorvastatin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have or have had liver disease or abnormal liver blood test results.
  • Do not take if you are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, breastfeeding, or a woman of childbearing age not using reliable contraception.
  • Do not take if you are taking glecaprevir/pibrentasvir for Hepatitis C.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking or have taken fusidic acid (for bacterial infections) in the last 7 days, as combining it with Liporion can cause serious muscle problems.

  • Limit grapefruit juice to 1-2 small glasses per day, as large amounts can affect this medicine.
  • Avoid drinking a lot of alcohol while taking this medicine.
