How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your exact dose based on your age, weight, and nutritional needs, usually calculated as "grams of fat per kilogram of body weight".

Method

This medicine is given as a drip into a vein through a small tube (catheter) as part of your nutrition program. It can be given alone or with other fluids.

Important

Your doctor will set your daily dose and infusion rate carefully to ensure your body can use the fat without exceeding its capacity. For adults, the maximum infusion rate is 0.15 g lipids per kg body weight per hour.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Allergic reactions (e.g., skin rash, shortness of breath, swelling of lips, mouth, or throat).
  • Breathing difficulties.
  • Blue coloring of the skin (cyanosis).
  • Fat overload syndrome, with symptoms such as high fat levels in the blood, fever, fat accumulation in organs, enlarged liver or spleen, low red blood cells, low white blood cells, low platelets, blood clotting problems, breakdown of blood cells, abnormal liver tests, or loss of consciousness.
  • Increased tendency for blood clotting.
  • Abnormally high fat levels in the blood.
  • Abnormally high blood sugar.
  • High levels of acid in the blood.
  • Decrease or increase in blood pressure.
  • Drowsiness.
  • Nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite.
  • Headache.
  • Flushing.
  • Skin redness.
  • Fever.
  • Sweating.
  • Cold sensation and shivers.
  • Pain in the back, bones, chest, or pelvic area.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Lipoplus if you are allergic to eggs, fish, peanuts, soy protein, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • You should not use Lipoplus if you have very high levels of fat (triglycerides) in your blood.
  • Inform your doctor about any serious medical conditions you have, such as severe heart or kidney failure, blood clotting problems, or severe infection, as Lipoplus might not be suitable or may require special precautions.
  • Your doctor will monitor your blood fat levels during the infusion. If you experience an allergic reaction (like fever, rash, or trouble breathing), the infusion will be stopped immediately.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking any medicines that affect blood clotting, such as heparin or warfarin, as your blood may need regular checks.

  • If you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine. Breastfeeding is not recommended for mothers receiving parenteral nutrition.
  • For newborns and children under 2 years old, the medicine must be protected from light during the infusion to prevent harmful substances from forming.
