How to Use

Dosage

One 600 mg tablet twice a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water every 12 hours.

Important

The maximum daily dose is two 600 mg tablets (1200 mg total). Treatment usually lasts 10 to 14 days, up to 28 days.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fungal infections, like thrush in the mouth or vagina.
  • Headache.
  • Metallic taste in your mouth.
  • Diarrhea, feeling sick (nausea), or throwing up (vomiting).
  • Changes in blood tests (e.g., kidney or liver function, blood sugar levels).
  • Trouble sleeping.
  • High blood pressure.
  • Anemia (low red blood cells).
  • Dizziness.
  • Stomach pain.
  • Constipation.
  • Upset stomach.
  • Localized pain.
  • Low platelet count.
  • Skin rash.
  • Itching.
  • Fever.
  • Unexplained bleeding or bruising.
RARE
  • Severe skin reactions, including swelling of the face or neck, difficulty breathing, blisters, or peeling skin.
  • Vision problems, such as blurred vision, changes in color vision, decreased sharpness, or narrowed field of vision.
  • Severe diarrhea with blood or mucus (colitis).
  • Seizures (convulsions).
  • Serotonin syndrome (symptoms can include agitation, confusion, fast heartbeat, stiff muscles, and diarrhea).
  • Muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, and/or dark urine (muscle breakdown that can damage kidneys).
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas).
  • Transient ischemic attacks (TIAs, temporary blood flow problems in the brain, with symptoms like vision loss, arm/leg weakness, speech problems).
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus).
  • Inflammation in the vagina or genital area in women.
  • Unusual sensations, such as tingling or numbness.
  • Swollen, sore, or discolored tongue.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Increased need to urinate.
  • Chills.
  • Increased thirst.
  • Increased sweating.
  • Hyponatremia (low sodium levels in the blood).
  • Kidney failure.
  • Abdominal bloating.
  • Increased creatinine levels.
  • Changes in heart rate (e.g., fast heartbeat).
  • Surface discoloration of teeth (a dentist can remove this).
  • Hair loss.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to linezolid or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have taken MAO inhibitor medicines (for depression or Parkinson's disease) in the last two weeks.
  • Do not take if you are breastfeeding, as it can affect your baby.
  • Tell your doctor before taking if you are elderly, bruise easily, have anemia, get infections easily, have had seizures, or have liver/kidney problems (especially if on dialysis) or diarrhea.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience vision problems (blurred vision, changes in color vision, decreased vision sharpness, or narrowed visual field).

  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience numbness, tingling, or prickling in your arms or legs.
  • Stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor immediately if you have severe or long-lasting diarrhea, or diarrhea with blood or mucus. Do not take medicines that stop bowel movements.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience repeated nausea or vomiting, stomach pain, or rapid breathing.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, weakness, and/or dark urine, which can be signs of rhabdomyolysis (muscle breakdown) and kidney damage.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you feel generally unwell with muscle weakness, headache, confusion, and memory problems, which can be signs of low sodium in the blood.
