How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you how much to take. For high blood pressure, it often starts at 5-20 mg once a day, and for heart problems, it usually starts at 2.5 mg once a day.

Method

Take this medicine by mouth, with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than 40 mg in one day.

  • Breathing problems (like asthma)
  • Upset stomach or bowel blockage

  • Itching or hives

  • Muscle cramps
  • Erectile dysfunction

  • Kidney problems or failure
  • Changes in blood test results (e.g., low blood cell counts, liver enzymes, low blood sugar, high calcium)
  • Yellow skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • Breast enlargement in men
  • Severe skin redness, blisters, or peeling skin

Important Warnings

  • Stop taking this medicine and get medical help right away if you have an allergic reaction, like swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, or trouble breathing.
  • Stop taking this medicine and see a doctor if you feel very dizzy or faint, especially when you stand up, or if you get a severe skin rash, blisters, or peeling skin.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant, especially after the third month, or if you are planning to become pregnant, as it can harm your baby.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are also taking sacubitril/valsartan, as it increases the risk of serious swelling (angioedema).
  • Limit alcohol use while taking this medicine, as it can lower your blood pressure too much and cause dizziness or fainting.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
