How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose for adults is one tablet once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water, with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Blurred vision
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Weakness
  • Cough
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhea, abdominal pain
  • Muscle cramps
  • Low blood pressure, which can cause dizziness and weakness (especially when standing up)
RARE
  • Severe allergic reaction with swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat (angioedema), which may cause difficulty swallowing or breathing. Seek immediate medical help.
  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) causing breathing difficulties or dizziness.
  • Severe blistering, skin peeling, sensitivity to light, or lupus-like skin conditions.
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), which may indicate liver problems.
  • Changes in blood cell counts (e.g., fewer white blood cells), which can weaken your immune system.
  • Sudden nearsightedness or eye pain due to high pressure in the eye.
  • Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
  • Gout (uric acid crystals in joints).
  • Heart attack or stroke (especially in patients with low blood pressure).
  • Non-melanoma skin and lip cancer (hydrochlorothiazide can increase risk with long-term high dose use).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to enalapril, hydrochlorothiazide, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have ever had severe swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat (angioedema), especially after taking ACE inhibitor medicines.
  • Do not take if you have severe kidney problems or cannot urinate.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant, especially after the first three months. Avoid during early pregnancy.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease or a brain disorder caused by severe liver problems.

  • Do not take if you are currently taking or have recently taken sacubitril/valsartan (a medicine for heart failure).
  • Protect your skin from sunlight and UV rays while using this medicine, as it may increase the risk of certain skin cancers.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
