How to Use
Dosage
Take one 5 mg tablet once a day.
Method
You can take Linagliptin Viatris with or without food.
Important
The maximum daily dose is one 5 mg tablet.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
•Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) symptoms like shaking, sweating, anxiety, blurred vision, tingling lips, paleness, mood changes, or confusion (when used with metformin and sulfonylurea or insulin).
•Increased levels of a substance called lipase in your blood.
RARE
•Allergic reactions such as rash, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat which may cause trouble breathing or swallowing.
•Inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis) causing severe, lasting stomach pain that may spread to your back, with nausea and vomiting.
•Inflammation of the nose or throat (nasopharyngitis).
•Cough.
•Constipation (when used with insulin).
•Increased levels of a substance called amylase in your blood.
•Skin blisters (bullous pemphigoid).
Important Warnings
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to linagliptin or any other ingredients in this medicine.
Do not use if you have type 1 diabetes (your body does not produce insulin) or diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious diabetes complication with high blood sugar).
If you are taking other diabetes medicines called sulfonylureas, your doctor may lower their dose to prevent very low blood sugar.
Tell your doctor if you have or have had pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) or if you develop skin blisters, as these could be signs of a serious condition.
Avoid using this medicine during pregnancy. Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby.
