How to Use

Dosage

One 5 mg tablet once a day.

Method

Take the tablet by mouth with water, with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one 5 mg tablet.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Symptoms of low blood sugar: shaking, sweating, anxiety, blurry vision, tingling lips, pale skin, mood changes, or confusion. This is common when used with metformin and a sulfonylurea.
  • High levels of lipase in the blood.
RARE
  • Severe and constant stomach pain that may spread to your back, with nausea and vomiting (signs of pancreas inflammation).
  • Allergic reactions such as wheezing, shortness of breath, skin rash, hives, and swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
  • Skin blisters (a blistering skin condition).
  • Nose or throat inflammation.
  • Cough.
  • Constipation (when taken with insulin).
  • High levels of amylase in the blood.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to linagliptin or any other ingredients.
  • Do not use this medicine if you have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (a severe diabetes complication).
  • If you are taking a sulfonylurea diabetes medicine, your doctor may need to lower your dose to avoid low blood sugar.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had a pancreas disease, or if you get severe stomach pain.
  • If you develop skin blisters, contact your doctor immediately as this may be a sign of a skin condition.

  • Linagliptin Stada is not recommended during pregnancy, and it is unknown if it passes into breast milk. Ask your doctor for advice.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin (seizure medicines), or rifampicin (an antibiotic).
