Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nausea
  • Tingling, itching, burning, or numb sensation (paresthesia)
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Slow heartbeat
  • Low or high blood pressure
  • Vomiting
RARE
  • Swelling of hands, feet, face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Itchy rash
  • Fever
  • Drop in blood pressure and shock
  • Signs of central nervous system toxicity, such as tingling or numbness around the mouth, numb tongue, increased sensitivity to sound, or difficulty speaking
  • Changes in sensation or muscle weakness (neuropathy)
  • Seizures
  • Partial paralysis
  • Persistent numbness
  • Headache with ringing/clicking in the ears (tinnitus) and abnormal light sensitivity (photophobia)
  • Hearing loss (deafness)
  • Cranial nerve damage
  • Drooping eyelids with small pupils and sometimes reduced sweating (Horner's syndrome); can occur if the medicine is given in the head/neck area
  • One-sided sweating and redness in the upper chest, neck, or face (Harlequin syndrome)
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Weakened heart function, cardiac arrest
  • Double vision
  • Slowed or stopped breathing
  • Rash or hives
  • Swelling due to fluid retention

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to lidocaine, similar local anesthetics, adrenaline, sulfites, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use for epidural anesthesia if you have very low blood pressure due to heart failure shock or significant blood loss.
  • Do not use to numb fingers, toes, nose, ears, or penis.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have heart problems (e.g., irregular heartbeat, chest pain), are elderly or unwell, have very high blood pressure, porphyria, severe liver or kidney problems, overactive thyroid, diabetes, or poor brain blood flow.
  • Lidokain/Adrenalin Aguettant 10 mg/ml is not for children under 1 year. Lidokain/Adrenalin Aguettant 20 mg/ml is not for children under 12 years.

  • This medicine contains sodium metabisulfite, which can cause severe allergic reactions and breathing difficulties.
  • If pregnant, adrenaline in this medicine might reduce blood flow to the uterus and affect contractions during childbirth.
  • This medicine may affect your ability to drive or use machines. Do not drive or operate machinery until the effects have worn off.
