How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide the right dose for you based on your age, health, and where the injection is given.

Method

The medicine is given as an injection into a vein or around nerves (under the skin, deeper in the skin, or in mucous membranes).

Your doctor will determine the maximum daily dose for you.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nausea
  • Itching, tingling, burning, prickling, or numbness
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Pain or tremor at the injection site
  • Slow heart rate
  • Low or high blood pressure
  • Vomiting
RARE
  • Changes in sensation or muscle weakness (neuropathy)
  • Convulsions (seizures)
  • Partial paralysis
  • Headache with ringing or clicking sound in ears (tinnitus) and abnormal light sensitivity (photophobia)
  • Hearing loss (deafness)
  • Cranial nerve damage
  • Drooping eyelid(s) with constricted pupils and sometimes reduced sweating (Horner's syndrome)
  • Asymmetric sweating and redness of the upper chest, neck or face (Harlequin syndrome)
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Cardiac arrest
  • Double vision
  • Slowed or stopped breathing
  • Rash or hives
  • Bluish skin discoloration, headaches, shortness of breath, and fatigue (methemoglobinemia)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to lidocaine, other local anesthetics, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have epilepsy.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have a condition causing muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis).
  • Talk to your doctor if you have heart problems, such as conduction disorders or a slow heart rate.

  • Talk to your doctor if you have breathing difficulties where breathing is slow and shallow (respiratory depression).
  • Talk to your doctor if you are elderly or in poor general health.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have a bleeding disorder or are being treated for one.
  • Lidokain Aguettant 10 mg/ml should not be given to children under 2 years of age.
  • Lidokain Aguettant 20 mg/ml should not be given to children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • This medicine may affect your ability to drive or use machines. Ask your doctor when it is safe to drive or operate machinery.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you develop an allergic reaction with swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, breathing difficulties, itchy rash, fever, low blood pressure, or shock. These are rare.
