How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 30 mg, but some people may start with 20 mg. Your doctor will decide your dose.

Method

Take one capsule in the morning before breakfast, with or without food. Swallow the capsule whole with water, or open it and mix the contents with soft food (like yogurt) or a glass of water or orange juice, then take immediately.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 70 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Decreased appetite
  • Trouble sleeping (insomnia)
  • Dry mouth
  • Headache
  • Feeling restless, anxious, or irritable
  • Unusual tiredness or restlessness
  • Difficulty getting or keeping an erection, or changes in sex drive
  • Dizziness
  • Uncontrolled twitching, shaking, trembling, or unusual activity
  • Repeated, difficult-to-control body jerks or repeated sounds/words (tic disorders)
  • Mood swings
  • High blood pressure
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat (tachycardia)
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Nausea or diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Weight loss
  • Excessive sweating
  • Stomach aches
  • Teeth grinding
  • Irregular heartbeat (palpitations)
  • Chest pain (may be a sign of heart problems)
RARE
  • Unusual talkativeness
  • Feeling depressed, worried, sad, or uneasy (dysphoria)
  • Feeling overly happy or excited (euphoria)
  • Compulsive skin picking
  • Uncontrolled body jerks or twitches
  • Unusual sleepiness
  • Itching, rash, or red itchy bumps (hives)
  • Blurred vision
  • Fever
  • Vomiting
  • Metallic taste in mouth or changes in taste (dysgeusia)
  • Fainting
  • Nosebleed
  • Unusual excitement, overactivity, or uninhibitedness (mania)
  • Allergic reaction (hypersensitivity)
  • Seeing, feeling, or hearing things that aren't real (hallucinations)
  • Severe allergic reaction with low blood pressure, difficulty breathing, and hives/itching (anaphylactic reaction)
  • Psychotic episodes (paranoia, delusions)
  • Seizures (convulsions)
  • Abnormal, life-threatening heart rhythm
  • Allergic liver damage (jaundice/yellowing of eyes/skin)
  • Swelling of the face, tongue, or throat; difficulty swallowing; hives and trouble breathing (angioedema); or severe rash with blisters on skin/mucous membranes (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Shortness of breath or swelling in the legs (signs of heart muscle disease)
  • Greatly enlarged pupils
  • Aggression
  • Poor circulation causing numbness and paleness in fingers and toes (Raynaud's phenomenon)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Lexaliz Adult if you are allergic to lisdexamfetamine or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • Do not take if you are currently taking or have taken 'MAOI' medicines for depression within the last two weeks.
  • Do not take if you have thyroid problems, heart problems (like a heart attack, irregular heartbeat, or heart failure), very high blood pressure, or increased eye pressure (glaucoma).
  • Do not take if you feel unusually excited, overactive, or uninhibited.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have ever misused medicines or drugs, or have kidney problems.
