How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you your daily dose. The usual starting dose is 30 mg, but some may start with 20 mg. Your doctor might increase it if needed, up to a maximum of 70 mg per day.

Method

Take Lexaliz Adult in the morning, before or with food. You can swallow the capsule whole with water, or open it and mix the contents into soft food like yogurt, or into water or orange juice. Eat or drink the mixture right away; do not store it.

Important

Do not take more than 70 mg in one day. Do not split a capsule; take the whole capsule content at once.

Possible Side Effects

  • Decreased appetite
  • Insomnia (trouble sleeping)
  • Dry mouth
  • Headache
  • Feeling agitated, nervous, anxious, or irritable
  • Unusual tiredness or restlessness
  • Erectile dysfunction or changes in sex drive
  • Dizziness
  • Uncontrolled twitching, tremor, shaking or unusual activity
  • Tics (difficult to control, repeated jerking of any body part or repeating sounds and words)
  • Mood swings
  • High blood pressure, fast or irregular heartbeat (tachycardia)
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Nausea or diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Weight loss
  • Excessive sweating
  • Stomach pains
  • Teeth grinding
RARE
  • Unusual talkativeness
  • Depression, anxiety, low mood or restlessness (dysphoria)
  • Unusual feeling of well-being or excitement (euphoria)
  • Compulsive skin picking
  • Uncontrolled body jerking or twitching
  • Unusual sleepiness
  • Itching, rash or red, itchy raised rash (hives)
  • Blurred vision
  • High body temperature (fever)
  • Vomiting
  • Metallic taste or taste disturbance (dysgeusia)
  • Fainting
  • Nosebleed

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to this medicine or any of its ingredients.
  • Do not take if you are currently using or have used certain antidepressants (MAOIs) in the last 14 days.
  • Tell your doctor if you have serious heart problems (like a heart attack, irregular heartbeat, or heart failure), very high blood pressure, or a family history of irregular heartbeats.
  • Tell your doctor if you have serious mental health problems, such as severe mood swings, seeing or hearing things that are not there, or severe anxiety.
  • Tell your doctor if you have high pressure in your eyes (glaucoma).

  • This medicine can cause dizziness or blurry vision, so be careful when driving or operating machines.
