How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you which strength capsule to take daily; the recommended starting dose is 30 mg, but some patients may start with 20 mg.

Method

Take Lexaliz Adult in the morning before breakfast, with or without food. You can swallow the capsule whole with water, or open it and mix the contents into soft food like yogurt, or a glass of water or orange juice, and consume immediately.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 70 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Decreased appetite
  • Trouble sleeping (insomnia)
  • Dry mouth
  • Headache
  • Feeling restless, nervous, anxious, or easily annoyed
  • Unusual tiredness or restlessness
  • Problems getting or keeping an erection, or changes in sex drive
  • Dizziness
  • Uncontrolled twitching, shaking, or repetitive movements of any body part, or repeating sounds and words (tics)
  • Mood swings
  • High blood pressure or a fast, irregular heartbeat
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Nausea or diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Weight loss
  • Too much sweating
  • Stomach ache
  • Teeth grinding
  • Pounding heart (palpitations)
  • Chest pain (can be a sign of heart problems)
RARE
  • Feeling unusually excited, overly active, or uninhibited (mania)
  • Allergic reaction
  • Being unusually talkative
  • Feeling depressed, anxious, sad, or restless (dysphoria)
  • Feeling unusually well or excited (euphoria)
  • Compulsively picking at skin
  • Uncontrolled body jerking or twitching
  • Unusual drowsiness
  • Itching, rash, or red, itchy raised rash (hives)
  • Blurred vision
  • High body temperature (fever)
  • Vomiting
  • Metallic taste or changes in taste
  • Fainting
  • Nosebleed
  • Seeing, feeling, or hearing things that are not real (hallucinations)
  • Severe allergic reaction with a sudden drop in blood pressure, trouble breathing, and hives (anaphylactic reaction)
  • Seeing, feeling, or hearing things that are not real, paranoia, and false beliefs (psychotic episodes)
  • Seizures (convulsions)
  • Abnormal heart rhythm, life-threatening irregular heartbeat (seen on an ECG)
  • Allergic liver damage which may cause yellowing of the eyes or skin (eosinophilic hepatitis)
  • Swelling of the face, tongue, or throat; difficulty swallowing; hives and trouble breathing (angioedema) or a severe rash with blisters on skin and mucous membranes, or irritation, sores, or swelling of the mouth, throat, eyes, nose, and genital areas (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Shortness of breath or swelling of the legs (signs of heart muscle disease)
  • Very wide pupils
  • Aggression
  • Poor circulation causing numbness and paleness in fingers and toes (Raynaud's phenomenon)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to lisdexamfetamine or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are currently using or have used MAOI medicines for depression within the last two weeks.
  • Do not take if you have severe heart problems, such as a heart attack, irregular heartbeat, heart failure, or a congenital heart defect, or very high blood pressure.
  • Do not take if you have thyroid problems or feel unusually excited, overactive, or uninhibited (mania).
  • Do not take if you have increased eye pressure (glaucoma).

  • Tell your doctor if you have ever misused medicines or drugs.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have kidney problems, a history of seizures, are pregnant or planning to be, have uncontrolled twitches (tics), or any mental health issues like mood swings, aggression, hallucinations, or depression.
  • Inform your doctor if you or your family have a history of irregular heart rhythm, or if you have a condition/treatment that increases your risk for it.
