How to Use
Dosage
Your doctor will decide the exact dose you receive, based on your condition.
Method
This medicine is given as a continuous drip (infusion) into a vein, usually starting with a fast drip for 10 minutes, followed by a slower drip.
Important
The infusion usually lasts for about 24 hours.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Abnormally fast heart rate
- •Headache
- •Low blood pressure
- •Low potassium levels in the blood
- •Trouble sleeping
- •Dizziness
- •Irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation), where the upper chambers of the heart quiver instead of beating normally
- •Extra heartbeats
- •Worsening heart failure
- •Not enough oxygen reaching the heart
- •Nausea (feeling sick)
- •Constipation
- •Diarrhea
- •Vomiting
- •Low red blood cell count
RARE
- •A severe irregular heart rhythm called ventricular fibrillation, where the heart's lower chambers quiver instead of beating normally
Important Warnings
- You are allergic to levosimendan or any other ingredient in this medicine.
- You have very low blood pressure or an abnormally fast heartbeat.
- You have a heart condition that makes it hard for your heart to fill or empty properly.
- You have severe kidney or liver disease.
- You have ever had a heart rhythm problem called Torsades de Pointes.

- You have low blood volume (hypovolemia).
- Your doctor has told you that you have low potassium levels in your blood.
- You have low blood count (anemia) and chest pain.
- You have an abnormally fast heartbeat, irregular heart rhythm, or your doctor has told you that you have atrial fibrillation.
- Do not breastfeed while using Levosimendan Stada to avoid potential heart or circulation problems in the baby.
- This medicine contains alcohol. Discuss with your doctor if you have epilepsy, liver problems, or are dependent on alcohol.
