How to Use

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.

Method

Tablets can be divided into equal doses and taken with or without food.

Important

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue
  • Tremors, stiffness, or restlessness, especially around the mouth or resembling Parkinson's disease
  • Mild changes in blood test results
  • Faster heartbeat
  • Low blood pressure
  • Dry mouth
  • Skin rash, itching, or sensitivity to sunlight
RARE
  • Blurred vision
  • Constipation
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Menstrual problems, breast growth or tenderness
  • Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (fever, heavy sweating, muscle stiffness, confusion)
  • Low white blood cell count (increases infection risk)
  • Severe allergic reaction (rash, swelling, trouble breathing)
  • Bowel problems (severe constipation, bloating, stomach pain)
  • Severe changes in blood test results
  • Changes in blood sugar, appetite, or weight
  • Memory problems, sudden muscle movements or cramps, seizures, fever, muscle stiffness, or reduced awareness
  • Worsening of glaucoma, or clouding of the eye lens or cornea
  • Heart rhythm problems or cardiac arrest
  • Liver inflammation with yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • Increased hair growth
  • Changes in sex drive or ability, delayed orgasm, impotence, painful or prolonged erection
  • Blood clots (in the lungs or deep veins)
  • Low platelet count
  • Increased white blood cell count (eosinophilia)
  • High blood sugar
  • Low sodium in the blood
  • Liver damage or abnormal liver test results

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to levomepromazine or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Avoid alcohol, as it can increase the side effects of this medicine.
  • This medicine can make you sleepy and affect your ability to drive or use machines. Be careful until you know how it affects you.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant. Breastfeeding should be stopped during treatment.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents.

  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, as they might interact with Levomepromazine Orion.
  • Inform your doctor if you have any central nervous system diseases (like epilepsy or stroke), heart, liver, or kidney problems, or diabetes.
  • This medicine contains lactose. If you have a sugar intolerance, talk to your doctor before taking it.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience rhythmic, involuntary movements of the tongue, face, mouth, or jaw, as this could be tardive dyskinesia.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Anticholinergic. Sedative. Increases the risk of cardiovascular events, QT prolongation and orthostatic hypotension. Increases risk of falls, extrapyramidal symptoms and cognitive impairment. Reduces the effectiveness of drugs for Alzheimer’s disease. (updated 15.1.2024)
