Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness, feeling tired, or lightheaded when standing up.
  • Shaky movements, trembling around the mouth, stiffness, or feeling restless.
  • Faster heartbeat or low blood pressure.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Skin problems like rash, itching, or being more sensitive to sunlight.
  • Minor changes in blood tests.
RARE
  • Severe allergic reaction (like swelling of the face/throat, difficulty breathing, or rapid drop in blood pressure), which can be life-threatening.
  • High fever, severe muscle stiffness, confusion, or changes in consciousness (signs of a serious condition called Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome).
  • Severe stomach pain, bloating, or severe constipation (signs of serious bowel issues).
  • Problems with white blood cells, making you more prone to infections (symptoms like fever, sore throat, severe weakness).
  • Blood clots (in legs or lungs).
  • Blurred vision, worsening of glaucoma (high eye pressure), or clouding of parts of the eye.
  • Heart rhythm problems or cardiac arrest.
  • Liver inflammation, liver damage, yellowing of skin/eyes (jaundice), or abnormal liver test results.
  • Menstrual problems, breast growth or tenderness, increased body hair, or changes in sex drive or ability (like delayed orgasm or erection problems).
  • Memory problems or seizures.
  • Changes in blood sugar, appetite, or weight, or low sodium in the blood.
  • Difficulties urinating.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to levomepromazine or any other ingredients listed in the leaflet.
  • Do not drink alcohol while using this medicine, as it can increase side effects.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor first.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience symptoms like high fever, severe muscle stiffness, confusion, fast heartbeat, severe allergic reactions (e.g., swelling of face/throat, difficulty breathing), or severe stomach pain/constipation. These can be very serious.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine. Breastfeeding should be stopped during treatment.

  • This medicine can make you sleepy and affect your ability to drive or use machines. Be careful until you know how it affects you.
  • Tell your doctor about all your other health conditions and medicines, especially if you have heart, liver, kidney, or brain issues, or diabetes, glaucoma, or Parkinson's disease.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Anticholinergic. Sedative. Increases the risk of cardiovascular events, QT prolongation and orthostatic hypotension. Increases risk of falls, extrapyramidal symptoms and cognitive impairment. Reduces the effectiveness of drugs for Alzheimer’s disease. (updated 15.1.2024)
