Levolac is a laxative that helps treat constipation and a specific liver condition by making stools softer and easier to pass.
For constipation: Adults and youth: 15-45 ml daily (starting dose), then 15-30 ml daily (maintenance dose). Children (7-14 years): 15 ml daily (starting dose), then 10-15 ml daily (maintenance dose). Children (1-6 years): 5-10 ml daily (starting and maintenance dose). Infants (under 1 year): 2.5-5 ml daily (starting and maintenance dose). For hepatic encephalopathy (adults): Start with 30-50 ml three times a day. Adjust dose to have 2-3 soft stools daily.
Take doses at the same time each day, either as a single dose or split into up to three doses. You can take it with or without food, diluted in liquid, or undiluted. Use the measuring cup. Swallow quickly; do not hold in your mouth.
Do not take more than the recommended dose, as too much can cause diarrhea, stomach pain, and upset your body's salt balance.
Suitable for older adults. (updated 20.5.2024)
