How to Use

Dosage

For adults, the usual dose is 5 ml to 15 ml, taken two times a day. Your doctor will tell you your exact dose.

Method

Take this medicine twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening. Use the syringe provided to measure your dose. You can mix it with water or baby formula. Take it with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than 30 ml (3000 mg) in total per day for adults.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Cold-like symptoms (runny nose, sore throat)
  • Feeling sleepy or very tired
  • Headache
  • Not feeling hungry (loss of appetite)
  • Mood changes (feeling sad, angry, worried, trouble sleeping, or irritation)
  • Seizures, problems with balance, feeling dizzy, lack of energy, or shaking you can't control
  • Feeling like the room is spinning (vertigo)
  • Cough
  • Stomach pain, diarrhea, upset stomach, throwing up, or feeling sick to your stomach
  • Skin rash (red spots or itchy skin)
  • Feeling weak or tired
RARE
  • Low numbers of certain blood cells (platelets, white blood cells) or low numbers of all types of blood cells
  • Losing or gaining weight
  • Serious mood or behavior changes (e.g., suicidal thoughts, seeing or hearing things that aren't real, severe anger or confusion, panic attacks, fast mood swings)
  • Memory loss, trouble remembering, poor coordination, tingling or numb feeling, difficulty paying attention
  • Seeing double or blurry vision
  • Abnormal liver test results, liver not working well, or inflammation of the liver
  • Hair loss, eczema, or itching
  • Weak muscles, muscle pain, uncontrollable muscle movements (jerks, twitches, hyperactivity), or muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis)
  • Severe allergic reactions (e.g., weakness, dizziness, trouble breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat)
  • Low salt (sodium) in the blood
  • Severe confusion (delirium) or brain problems (encephalopathy)
  • Changes in heart rhythm seen on an ECG
  • Pancreas inflammation
  • Sudden kidney problems
  • Severe skin reactions (e.g., blisters, peeling skin, especially around the mouth, nose, eyes, and private areas)
  • Trouble walking

Important Warnings

  • If you have kidney problems, follow your doctor's advice carefully. Your dose might need to change.
  • If you notice a child's growth slowing down or their puberty starting unusually, tell their doctor.
  • This medicine can cause changes in how you feel or act, like feeling sad (depression), angry, aggressive, or having thoughts about hurting yourself. Tell your doctor if you or someone else notices these changes.
  • If you or your family have had problems with irregular heartbeats or other heart conditions, talk to your doctor.
  • Your seizures might get worse or happen more often, especially when you first start the medicine or if your dose is increased. Contact your doctor right away if this happens.

  • Do not take macrogol (a laxative) one hour before or after your Levetiracetam STADA dose. It can make this medicine less effective.
  • If you are pregnant, planning to be, or are breastfeeding, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine. It's not recommended to breastfeed while on this treatment.
  • This medicine can make you feel sleepy. Do not drive or use machines until you know how it affects you and you can do these tasks safely.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly. Always talk to your doctor first, as stopping suddenly can make your seizures worse.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Consider possibility of mental disorders. (updated 6.10.2025)
