How to Use

Dosage

For adults and young people (12-17 years, weighing 50 kg or more), the recommended dose is 1000-3000 mg daily. For children (4-11 years) and young people (12-17 years, weighing less than 50 kg), the recommended dose is 20-60 mg per kg of body weight daily.

Method

A doctor or nurse will give you Levetiracetam 1A Farma as an infusion into a vein. It is given twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, at about the same time each day. The dose needs to be diluted in at least 100 ml of a compatible solution and given over 15 minutes.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults and young people (12-17 years, weighing 50 kg or more) is 3000 mg. For children (4-11 years) and young people (12-17 years, weighing less than 50 kg), the maximum daily dose is 60 mg per kg of body weight.

  • Hair loss, itching
  • Muscle weakness, muscle pain
  • Injury
  • Infection
  • Decrease in all types of blood cells
  • Low sodium levels in blood
  • Delirium (severe confusion)
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
  • Liver failure, hepatitis (liver inflammation)
  • Sudden worsening of kidney function
  • Rhabdomyolysis (muscle tissue breakdown) and increased blood creatine kinase levels associated with rhabdomyolysis
  • Limping or difficulty walking
  • Combination of fever, muscle stiffness, unstable blood pressure and heart rate, confusion, reduced consciousness (signs of neuroleptic malignant syndrome)
  • Recurrent unwanted thoughts or sensations, or a compulsion to repeat actions (obsessive-compulsive disorder)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to levetiracetam or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • If you have kidney problems, your doctor may need to adjust your dose.
  • If you notice slow growth or unexpected puberty in your child, contact a doctor.
  • This medicine can cause suicidal thoughts, depression, irritation, or unusual aggression. If you or your family notice significant mood or behavior changes, contact your doctor immediately.
  • If you have a history of irregular heartbeat or conditions that increase the risk of irregular heartbeats, discuss this with your doctor.

  • Seizures may become worse or happen more often, especially during the first month of treatment or after a dose increase. Contact your doctor if this happens.
  • Seek urgent medical help if you experience weakness, dizziness, trouble breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or flu-like symptoms with a widespread rash and fever. These could be signs of a severe allergic reaction.
  • Contact your doctor if you have symptoms like low urine output, tiredness, nausea, vomiting, confusion, or swelling in your legs, ankles, or feet. These can be signs of sudden kidney problems.
  • Get medical help immediately if you develop a severe skin rash with blisters or peeling skin, especially around the mouth, nose, eyes, and genitals, or a target-like rash (dark spots surrounded by a lighter area and a dark ring).
  • Tell your doctor if you or someone close to you notices severe mental changes like confusion, drowsiness, memory problems, abnormal behavior, or uncontrolled movements. These could be signs of a brain disorder.
