How to Use

Dosage

One 5 mg implant.

Method

An implant is injected under the skin in the abdominal area by a doctor or nurse every three months. The injection site will be cleaned, and local anesthesia may be given.

Important

Not applicable, one implant (5 mg) is given every three months.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Hot flushes
  • Increased sweating
  • Bone pain
  • Decreased or lost sexual desire or ability
  • Testicle shrinkage
  • Weight gain
  • Local skin reactions at the injection site, like redness, hardening, pain, swelling, or itching; sometimes an abscess
  • Male breast enlargement
  • Changes in appetite (decreased or increased)
  • Depression, mood changes
  • Sleep disorders
  • Headache
  • Unusual sensations, like tingling or numbness
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Joint or back pain
  • Muscle weakness
  • Increased need to urinate (especially at night or frequently during the day)
  • Difficulty and pain when urinating
  • Fatigue
  • Swelling of ankles, feet, or fingers
  • Weight loss
  • Changes in liver enzyme levels in the blood
RARE
  • Generalized allergic reactions, such as fever, itching, rash, or increased white blood cells (eosinophils)
  • Diarrhea
  • Dry skin or dry mouth/mucous membranes
  • Testicular pain
  • Inability to empty the bladder on your own
  • Increased night sweats
  • Decreased or increased blood sugar levels
  • Dizziness
  • Temporary changes in taste
  • Decreased or increased blood pressure
  • Hair loss
  • Pituitary gland damage (infarction), especially if you have a pituitary tumor and receive the medicine for the first time

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to leuprorelin or similar medicines (like goserelin or buserelin).
  • Do not use if your cancer is not affected by hormones.
  • This medicine is not for women or children.
  • Tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure, as you will be monitored closely.
  • Tell your doctor if both testicles have been surgically removed, as this medicine will not lower hormone levels further.

  • Tell your doctor immediately if you have nerve problems, spinal cord pressure, or difficulty urinating due to blockages.
  • If your symptoms (like pain, difficulty urinating, or leg weakness) return during long-term use, tell your doctor.
  • Tell your doctor if you are at risk of bone weakening (osteoporosis).
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, as your blood sugar will be closely monitored.
  • Tell your doctor if you have fatty liver disease.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience severe or persistent headaches, vision problems, or ringing in your ears.
  • Tell your doctor if you feel depressed while using this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart or blood vessel disease, including an irregular heartbeat, or if you are taking medicines for these conditions.
  • Stop using this medicine and seek urgent medical help if you develop severe skin rashes, such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis.
