How to Use
Dosage
The recommended dose is 20 units, given as five 0.1 ml injections (4 units each).
Method
Injections are given into the muscles above or between the eyebrows. This medicine is given as an intramuscular injection.
Important
The contents of one vial can only be used for a single patient in one treatment session. There should be at least a 3-month break between treatments.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Headache
- •Injection site reactions (pain, bruising, swelling, itching, lump, pressure)
- •Unpleasant feeling in the head
- •Local swelling (e.g., eyelid, face, around eyes)
- •Bruising around the eyes
- •Infection (e.g., common cold)
- •Eyebrow elevation at outer corners (Mephisto sign)
- •Drooping upper eyelid
- •Eyelid spasms
RARE
- •Sensory problems in the eyelid
- •Drooping eyebrow
- •Conjunctival hemorrhage (bleeding in the white of the eye)
- •Eye pain, dry eyes, visual field defects, blurred vision
- •Impaired sensation in the throat
- •Constipation
- •Speech disorders
- •Muscle weakness
- •Difficulty swallowing
- •Infection from food/liquid entering airways or lungs
- •Difficulty breathing
- •Migraine
- •Folliculitis (inflamed hair follicles)

- •Abnormal sensations (tingling, prickling, itching)

- •Increased blood potassium levels

Important Warnings
- Do not use if you are allergic to botulinum toxin type A or any other ingredient in this medicine.
- Do not use if you have muscle disorders like myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
- Do not use if you have an infection or inflammation at the planned injection site.
- Tell your doctor if you have any muscle or nerve disorders, or if you have had difficulty swallowing or breathing.
- Seek immediate medical help if you experience difficulty swallowing, speaking, or breathing.
